What is "the media"? 

The media

=technical tools/devices which tells something to the masses publicly, indirectly and one-sidedly. e.g. newspaper, television, radio, film, and magazine.( Encyclopædia Britannica)

What is the first media?

As you know, Printed matter is said "the first media".

In 15th century, Johannes Gutenberg, a German blacksmith, gold smith, and printer, invented the printing press. He was the first person in Europe that printed with the printing press and movable type. He started printing and publishing business with the machine. His invention was how to print many movable type, the use of oil-based ink, and the introduction of wooden printing press like the agricultural screw press. What is his best invention? That is, he combined these elements into practical system. Thanks to him, mass printing and producing of books was enabled. Before his invention, books were printed by hand. So this invention was huge inovasion. The machine was rapidly introduced around the World. His invention has considered one of three greatest inventions of the Renaissance. He also printed the Gutenberg Bible (as known as 42-line bible), the bible has been praised for its high aesthetic and technical quality.
